Global Rangelands

The Rangelands Partnership is a collaboration of U.S.

and international partners working together to provide open access to a variety of information resources to the worldwide rangelands community.   These resources integrate research, education, and Extension knowledge to support the information needs of multiple audiences.  The “Global Rangelands.org” database includes more than 13,000 full-text articles, conference proceedings, reports, videos, maps, and websites relevant for scientists, professionals, land managers, and students.  Example collections are back files of Society for Range Management (SRM) journals, proceedings from the Australian Rangeland Society, and worldwide rangeland materials from the FAO.  Recently, the University of Hermosillo, Mexico, added a “Sonora Rangelands” site.  Searches can be customized to limit to specific topics, authors, geographic locations, and other attributes.  Educational resources are: “Careers and Education”, “Online Courses” and “Teaching Tools.” In addition, Extension/outreach resources for the broader public include a multimedia page that lists topical videos available through a YouTube channel. To inform audiences about current issues, the RangelandsWest.org site provides a collection of summaries and information resources on “hot topics” such as grazing on public lands, wildlife, climate, fire, and invasive species.  The Partnership also maintains a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/RangelandsWest and a news service http://www.scoop.it/t/rangelands.
