China CIARD RING Northwest Regional Seminar and Training held successfully

China Agricultural Research and Development Information Sharing System (CIARD RING CN) Northwest Regional Seminar and training held in Yinchuan, Ningxia during September 9-12, 2013.The Seminar and Training were organized by the Chinese Agricultural Library Society (CALS), the Agricultural Information Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences(CAAS) and the Agricultural Science and Technology Information Institute of Ningxia Academy of Agricultural and Forest Sciences. Around 20 participants from various provinces like Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Xinjiang, Henan, Gansu, Beijing, Shandong, Yunnan and other units of agricultural information related organizations attended the meeting.   The opening ceremony was chaired by Dr. Wang Dun, Deputy director of the Agricultural Science and Technology Information Institute, Ningxia Academy of Agricultural and Forest Sciences, Dr.Zhang Xuejian, deputy director of the Agricultural Science and Technology Information Institute, Ningxia Academy of Agricultural and Forest Sciences, delivered a welcome speech at the ceremony. He said that CIARD provides a new platform and channel for us to share agricultural research data and information. This will be a unique network information navigator for all related stakeholders to share the information needed.   Agricultural Information Specialists of the world may take CIARD RING as a new channel to find the agricultural information to create more value added services for users. The sharing mechanisms, ways and means of CIARD will help small information institutions to reduce cost of software development, promote China's agricultural scientific data and information sharing and cooperation, and accelerate information sharing system in China's agricultural development.   Commissioned by Prof. Meng Xianxue, Chairman of the CALS, Prof.Zhang Xuefu and Pan shuchun, AII, CAAS gave reports respectively by the titles of “EU international cooperation projects agINFRA progress”and “International agricultural information sharing platform CIARD RING and China CIARD RING development”. Representatives from the Information institute, Chinese Academy of Forest Sciences, Information institute of  Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forest Sciences, Information Center of Chinese Academy of Fisheries, etc. , introduced experiences ​​in their information sharing and grass root user services. Suggestions and recommandations were presented for further construction of CIARD CN.   The meeting also discussed new technologies, new methods, new modes in agricultural science and technology information services for agricultural research innovation.   All participants agreed that the Chinese CIARD should further open access more agricultural information and results of agricultural research, for effective and value added services, and for a wider international cooperation and sharing of  agricultural information resources to lay the foundation of a joint win-win approaches, Chinese CIARD partners will actively promote the use and reuse of agricultural information resources for agricultural related stakeholders.   During the training section, Mr.Liu Jiayi, from China CIARD RING Working Group introduced CIARD RING registration methods, and with other key members of the CIARD RING CN, hands on training had been conducted.       Representatives of various units eventually mastered the CIARD RING registration methods and successfully registered 36 new information resources and services.
agINFRA The RING is part of the agINFRA project EC 7th framework program INFRA-2011-1.2.2 - Grant agr. no: 283770
